30 | 01 | 2009 The intellectual game “Behind the seven seals”

We had a semifinal game on the 30 January at our school. And on the 2nd of February there was the final part of the game “Behind the 7 seals”. We found out the winners of this game. They are the students of the 7th forms: Mustafayeva Mariam, Shahsuvarova Jamilya, Yusifzade Mamedali, Musayeva Aydan, Qasimov Fathi.
Why are finikians called finikians as a translation from Hindy – Maldives – is an island – palace “ (read “paradise”) and how the ancient people built their cities, and Galapagoss islands took their name from Portuguess “galapago”, it means a huge “tortoise” (not many people know that)
The answers to all these questions the student of the secondary school near Western University know very well, because they have been playing this game for four years.
This game is played so. Before the game we hold some competitions between some groups of 5-7 students. They answer the questions about the same theme, and the members of the game have to get us more seals as possible. A right answer means one seal. The winner is who gets the most seals. For thinking about 1 answer we give only one minute.
Very often the answer of the question is hidden in the question itself.
That`s why that every answer – is a key to the answer of the last, seventh question. Every students aim is to find out how well he or she knows about history and geography of counties and continents. The winner gets a CD with films of history, geography and literature. But most of all our students like the films about plants and animals, especially of the sea animals and plants. We are sorry that the competitors of the game are only from Western Junior school and we would like to involve more students of other schools.
Don`t you agree that such a game-quiz, is a method to learn deeper and better the material of one part of a textbook, that could mean some different subjects. And couldn`t we say that this is an interactive, integrated method of teaching.
